What is Green Game Jam?

Green Game Jam is a one-of-a-kind event focusing on addressing climate-related challenges. The task is to design a game and the possible themes are greenhouses gas emissions, water harvesting, low carbon solutions, energy management and consumption, extreme weather, and sustainable agriculture.

From Monday October 6th till Wednesday 8th, participants all over the world will join, work as a team, and each team will design a game.


This event presents incredible opportunities to participant such as:

  • A platform for global networking across countries such as Sweden, Italy, Turkey, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
  • Learning through expert lectures to elevate your design ideas.
  • Recognition and symbolic awards for outstanding contributions.

Can I attend?

Anyone who has the competence to attend is welcome.

Challenges

Design a game that addresses a climate-related challenges: Greenhouses gas emissions, water harvesting, low carbon solutions, energy management and consumption, extreme weather, sustainable agriculture.

Awards and criteria

The best contributions will get awards. Mostly this will be symbolic awards like diplomas.

Tools

You bring your own computer to work on.

Intellectual properties

Everything developed at the Game Jam will be open source.

What will I eat?

Game Jam participants have to arrange the food themselves.

What should I bring?

Brind your computer for the Game Jam.

How do teams work?

Teams are at about 5 - 7 people. You can select teammates before you register, or you can register individually without specified teammates. It will be possible to find teammates when the Game Jam starts.

What if I don’t have a team?

If you don’t have a team now, that’s okay! We’ll help to form teams when the Game Jam starts.

Does this cost money?

Nope! Admission is free.
